Watch this clip from a debate between Lawrence Lessig, and the late Jack Valenti (then president of the motion picture association) on intellectual property and copyright and address the following questions on the class discussion board:
1. What did you learn from the debate that you did not know before?
2. Descirbe your views on the role of copyright for protecting intellectual property vs the role of building on others' work for innovation and creativity; and the role of devices/applications that are often used for illegal purposes, but can be used for legal purposes as well (e.g., the VCR, bit torrent, DVD ripping programs).
