How Wikipedia Works
1. Watch this video from the North Caroline State Library on Wikipedia.
2. Watch this video of Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, on Wikipedia, on TED talks.
3. Answer the following questions on the class discussion board.
  1. Describe underlying philsophical themes that lead to the creation of wikipedia, according to Jimmy Wales.
  2. Do these films make you feel more or less confident about the veracity of the material in wikipedia? Explain.
Identify a topic in wikipedia that is interesting to you, investigate the discussion and history pages. If you're really motivated try to make an edit on the page. Describe your experience, and what you learned about your topic and the way wikipedia works.
